Abstract

Educational Psychology for Young Learners is a three-hour, 300-level foundational course course for pre-service teachers in a school of education. One section is offered each semester, and enrollment ranges from 85-175 students. The course is only offered in an in-person lecture format and meets twice a week for 85 minutes each. This syllabus is a redesign of the course to offer additional opportunities for student engagement and self-directed learning.

Vincent Roman Genareo, Salisbury University Seidel School of Education & Professional Studies

Dr. Vincent Genareo is the assistant professor of Educational Psychology at Salisbury University, Maryland. Vincent earned his Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning at the University of North Dakota and served as a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Education and Research Institute for Studies in Education (RISE) at Iowa State University. His research areas include teacher education pedagogy and programs, STEM career conceptualization and pathways to college, and problem-based learning.
