Syllabus Founding Editor, Alexander M. "Sasha" Sidorkin, is leaving Rhode Island College at the end of the 2012/13 academic year and will step down from the editorship.

The application is open to faculty members within and outside Rhode Island College (RIC) and is designed to ensure an orderly transition of the journal to the new leadership. The selection of the new editor will be conducted by the Academic Leadership Group of RIC in consultation with the journal's Editorial Board. If the new editor is from outside RIC, the journal ownership will be transferred to the new editor's home institution. The current hosting provider is the University of Pittsburgh, and it may cost up to $900 a year. However, many institutions host their own OJS platforms (it is free to use), or are capable of doing so. Check with your IT.

Syllabus has been a very successful initiative. It has published three issues, attracted over 400 registered users and 11,000 unique visitors. It is indexed by a number of databases. The journal must remain in open public access and free to users and authors.

Managing a peer-reviewed journal with integrity requires institutional support, time commitment, and professional interest in university-level teaching. We encourage all potential applicants to discuss the application with their respective institutions before submitting the application. While the exact level of support is difficult to define, some time release and secretarial help are recommended.

Feel free to contact Sasha Sidorkin at asidorkin@ric.edu if you wish to discuss this opportunity further.

Deadline: May 30, 2013
