Teaching Conflict Resolution Online through Experential Opportunities and Student Engagement

Abstract


This Conflict Resolution course is required for Bachelor’s Degree students in a variety of degree programs. The teaching approach is to help students ground students in theoretical understanding and research in conflict resolution as well as build their personal conflict resolution skills, knowledge, and abilities so they can take a more objective and less emotional approach to conflict. Students in this online class will use experiential and application-level learning throughout the class; the final project is an analysis of a personal conflict scenario that requires synthesis of the concepts and techniques used throughout the course and an evaluation of the selected approach.
